About the Program
The JN Tata Endowment provides financial assistance to Indian students wishing to pursue postgraduate, doctoral, or postdoctoral studies abroad. Selected scholars may be considered for additional support through partial travel grants and gift awards based on their academic performance during their overseas studies, at the discretion of the Trustees of the concerned Trusts.
Eligibility Criteria
- Age: Open to Indian citizens under the age of 45 as of June 30, 2025.
- Academic Background: Applicants must have graduated from a recognized Indian university with a minimum of 60% in their undergraduate or postgraduate studies.
- Current Students: Candidates in their final year of undergraduate study at a recognized institution may also apply.
- Program Requirements: Candidates must be admitted to a program recognized as a Graduate Program (equivalent to postgraduate studies in India).
- Reapplication Policy: Previous applicants who were not selected or who received a scholarship but could not utilize it may reapply. Former JN Tata scholars who have repaid their loan in full are also eligible to reapply.
- Application Status: Applications are accepted from those awaiting results or who have not yet received an admission offer. Successful applicants must update their admission status via email to jnte@tatatrusts.org.

Indian students attending Cornell University to pursue undergraduate degrees are assisted by the Tata Cornell Scholarship program. Students now have a fantastic opportunity to pursue professional education at a globally recognized university because of the collaboration between Cornell and Tata Trusts. This scholarship, which covers tuition and expenses, is awarded to 20 Indian students annually.
Eligibility Criteria for the Tata Scholarship at Cornell University
To apply, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen or resident.
- Education: Must have completed senior secondary education at an Indian school.
- Financial Need: Must demonstrate eligibility for need-based financial aid.
- English Proficiency: Must submit either TOEFL or IELTS scores:
- TOEFL-iBT: Minimum score of 100
- IELTS: Minimum band score of 7.0
- Admission Offer: Must have received an offer of admission to any undergraduate degree program at Cornell University.
Preference will be given to students applying to arts, engineering, agriculture, applied economics and management, biological sciences, life sciences, and other science-related programs.

Lady Meherbai D Tata Education Trust Scholarship
Indian women graduates of reputed universities who want to continue their studies Abroad are given scholarships by the Lady Meherbai D. Tata Study Trust to help with the cost of their tuition.
To be eligible, an Indian woman must have graduated from a reputable university.
- A steady and excellent academic record
- Candidates may apply if they have ALL of their results in hand. Applications are not accepted from those who are awaiting their results.
- For the years 2023–2024, you must have sought admission to reputable universities or institutes in the US, UK, or Europe, or ideally, been accepted.
- Graduates with at least two years of relevant work experience are desired.
Lady Tata Memorial Trust Scholarship
Lady Tata Memorial Trust was established in 1932 and supplies funding for institutional scientific research as well as initiatives like Teachers’ Training Programs and the Young Researcher Award. 15 students received Junior Research Fellowships in 2021–2022, with an emphasis on cancer and leukemia research. For five foreign research projects, scholarships totaling GBP 185,000 (~INR 1.84 crore) were given out.
