Job Description: Associate Medical Coder
As an Associate Medical Coder at Optum, you will play a critical role in the healthcare ecosystem. You will be responsible for the accurate and efficient coding of medical records, which is essential for hospital statistics, government planning, and ensuring proper reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform coding of inpatient and/or outpatient medical records daily according to the department schedule.
- Accurately assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes while maintaining a high standard of accuracy (95% or above) in code choice and sequencing.
- Identify and abstract records consistently and accurately.
- Meet and exceed departmental productivity standards for coding and data entry.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills to meet all deadlines.
- Participate in coding meetings and educational conferences to maintain and enhance coding skills.
- Collaborate effectively with all members of the departmental and hospital staff.
Eligibility Criteria
