Job Overview
As a Technical Associate, Toxicology, you will play a hands-on, non-supervisory role in supporting the standard-setting activities of the USP-NF. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting literature searches on the safety and toxicology of botanicals and dietary ingredients.
- Analyzing and synthesizing data to evaluate the safety of dietary supplements and herbal medicines.
- Performing quality assessments of studies used in admission evaluations.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient workflows.
- Contributing to the publication of admission evaluation summaries for the Dietary Supplement Compendium (DSC).
This role is ideal for candidates with a strong foundation in toxicological principles and a passion for scientific research.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed literature reviews on the safety and toxicology of botanicals and dietary ingredients.
- Collect and analyze data on nomenclature and labeling of dietary supplements.
- Conduct quality assessments of toxicological studies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows.
- Prepare and publish admission evaluation summaries for the DSC.
- Stay updated on global regulatory guidelines and toxicological standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: M. Pharm (Pharmacology/Toxicology) or MSc (Toxicology/Clinical Research) or a related discipline.
- Experience: 0 to 1 year of relevant experience in botanicals, dietary ingredients, or chemical safety assessment (preferred but not mandatory).
- Skills:
- Basic understanding of toxicological principles, OECD guidelines, and pharmacokinetics.
- Familiarity with databases for extracting toxicological information.
- Knowledge of pharmacognosy or natural product chemistry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
