Key Responsibilities – HCC Medical Coder

  • Perform accurate HCC (Hierarchical Condition Category) medical coding using ICD-10-CM guidelines
  • Review medical records to identify and abstract relevant diagnoses
  • Ensure compliance with CMS risk adjustment and documentation standards
  • Apply strong knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology and medical terminology
  • Maintain productivity and quality benchmarks as per Cotiviti standards
  • Collaborate with internal quality and audit teams to resolve coding discrepancies
  • Adhere to updated ICD guidelines and coding policies

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Education: Any Life Science Graduate (B.Pharm, M.Pharm, BSc, MSc, etc.)
  • Experience: Minimum 1+ year of hands-on experience in HCC medical coding
  • Certification:
    • Active AAPC or AHIMA certification (mandatory)
    • CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Anatomy & Physiology
    • Medical Terminology
    • ICD-10-CM and HCC guidelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
