Key Responsibilities:
As a Medical Coding Analyst at Optum, you will play a critical role in ensuring accurate medical coding and documentation. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Coding Medical Records: Assigning ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes to inpatient and outpatient records with an accuracy rate of over 95%.
- Guideline Implementation: Staying updated with AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines and applying them to coding practices.
- Reviewing Documentation: Analyzing medical records to add or modify CPT codes for minor surgical procedures, vaccines, and laboratory services.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to NCCI edits, LCD & NCD coverage determinations, and HIPAA policies for patient confidentiality.
- Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with a large team to improve quality and productivity.
- Regulatory Compliance: Meeting all regulatory and client guidelines for timely coding and resolution of edits.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Graduate with a certification in medical coding from AAPC or AHIMA.
- Certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC certifications are mandatory. Candidates must provide proof of certification with a valid ID during the interview process.
- Certification Validity: The certification must be valid for at least three months from the date of joining.
- Experience: Freshers or candidates with prior experience in medical coding are eligible to apply.
