The Ministry of Defence (MoD) offers a great career opportunity for qualified pharmacists with the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) through its Central Organisation. The Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) is an organization under the Ministry of Defence (MoD) that provides comprehensive healthcare services to retired defence personnel and their dependents. Headed by a Major General, ECHS has 28 Regional Centres and 426 Polyclinics across India. It is also closely associated with the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DoESW), the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), and the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB). The Ministry of Defence plays a key role in facilitating the recruitment and management of these healthcare services, ensuring veterans have access to essential medical care.
Job Responsibilities
As a pharmacist under ECHS, your main duties will include:
- Dispensing Medicines: Preparing and dispensing prescribed medications to patients.
- Pharmacy Management: Ensuring the proper storage, stock management, and handling of pharmaceutical supplies.
- Patient Consultation: Advising patients on medication use, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Inventory Control: Monitoring stock levels and ensuring the availability of essential medicines.
- Collaboration with Medical Teams: Working closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal care to patients.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of prescriptions, medical supplies, and patient interactions.
Qualification and Skills Required
To be eligible for this pharmacist position under the Ministry of Defence, candidates must meet the following qualifications and skills:
Minimum Qualification:
- B.Pharma degree, or
- 10+2 with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and a Diploma in Pharmacy.
- A minimum of 3 years of work experience in the relevant field is required.
Skills Required:
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences, drug formulations, and dosage instructions.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
- Excellent attention to detail in dispensing medications and managing inventories.
- Good organizational skills to ensure smooth operations in the pharmacy.
