Job Description
MedCode is seeking a Certified Medical Coder (CPC/CCS) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding, ensuring accurate billing and compliance with federal regulations (HIPAA, CMS). This role involves working closely with physicians, billing teams, and auditors to optimize reimbursement and minimize claim denials.
Key Responsibilities:
✔ Review and assign accurate medical codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) for diagnoses and procedures.
✔ Ensure compliance with coding guidelines (CMS, NCHS, AAPC) and payer policies.
✔ Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation discrepancies.
✔ Assist in resolving coding denials, audits, and appeals.
✔ Stay updated on coding updates, regulatory changes, and compliance standards.
✔ Support revenue cycle management to improve claim accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications:
✅ Certified Professional Coder (CPC) / Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
✅ Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
✅ Experience in medical coding (1+ years preferred).
✅ Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.).
✅ Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Education & Experience:
- Life Science/Healthcare degree (Preferred: B.Sc Nursing, Pharmacy, Microbiology).
- AAPC/AHIMA certification (CPC, CCS, COC, CIC) mandatory.
- Prior experience in outpatient/ inpatient coding, ED, or surgical coding is a plus.
