As a Home Health Coder at Zealous Health Care, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient data and billing processes. Your primary responsibility will be to review and analyze clinical documentation to assign appropriate medical codes for home health services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for home health episodes.
- Review clinical documentation (OASIS, physician orders, nursing notes) to ensure coding compliance and accuracy.
- Ensure all coding practices adhere to official guidelines, CMS regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy to meet departmental goals.
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and reimbursement policies for home health services.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this medical coder role, you should possess the following:
- Experience: A minimum of 6 months and up to 3 years of direct experience in Home Health Coding.
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Microbiology, Biochemistry, Nursing, Pharmacy) or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in understanding medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Familiarity with OASIS data sets is a strong advantage.
- Analytical Skills: Keen attention to detail and strong analytical abilities to interpret complex medical records.
Preferred Certifications (A Major Plus)
Candidates holding one or more of the following certifications will be given high priority:
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) from AAPC
- BHH-C (Billing and Coding Home Health-Hospice)
- HCS-D (Home Care Coding Specialist-Diagnosis)
- HCS-O (Home Care Clinical Specialist-OASIS)
- COCS (Certified Outpatient Coder)
- CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) from AHIMA
