Position Overview
As an Associate Medical Editor, you will be responsible for reviewing and copyediting U.S. medical (non-promotional) and promotional materials across various therapeutic areas and brands. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all materials adhere to Customer Information Quality (CIQ) and Medical Content Approval (MCA) requirements. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Copyedit and proofread promotional and medical (non-promotional) materials to ensure compliance with CIQ and MCA requirements.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Medical teams, and other stakeholders during the review and approval process.
- Validate content for consistency, accuracy, and alignment with brand style guides and templates.
- Review scientific literature, reference lists, and ensure compliance with the AMA Manual of Style or Chicago Manual of Style.
- Utilize tools like Veeva Vault and project planning software (e.g., Wrike, MS Project) to streamline the review process.
- Identify and resolve issues related to language, grammar, logic, and flow in medical communications.
- Support process improvements and uphold Lilly’s internal standards for quality and compliance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific, health, communications, or technology-related field.
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience as an editor, copyeditor, or proofreader in the pharmaceutical, publishing, or advertising industry.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of scientific and medical terminologies.
- Familiarity with style guides like AMA Manual of Style and Chicago Manual of Style.
- Proficiency in tools such as Veeva Vault and project planning software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of the U.S. CIQ/MCA framework and processes.
- Experience in reviewing or writing Medical Affairs communications, such as slide decks, HCP materials, or patient education tools.
- Expertise in therapeutic areas like neuroscience, oncology, cardiovascular, immunology, or endocrinology.
