Position
Scientific Officer – Molecular (NGS)
The selected candidate will work in molecular diagnostics, with expertise in the complete NGS workflow, including sample extraction, library preparation, sequencing, quality control, troubleshooting, and preliminary analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform DNA and RNA extraction.
- Handle NGS library preparation and PCR.
- Conduct sequencing and sequencing run quality control.
- Work with germline, FFPE, and liquid biopsy testing.
- Troubleshoot NGS workflows and perform preliminary analysis.
- Maintain SOP and QMS compliance in NABL/ISO 15189 laboratories.
- Independently manage the complete NGS workflow in a high-volume, turnaround-time-driven molecular diagnostics laboratory.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Life Sciences.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on expertise with the Thermo Fisher Ion Torrent NGS platform.
Required Skills
Candidates should have experience or knowledge in the following areas:
- DNA/RNA extraction
- NGS library preparation and PCR
- Sequencing and run QC
- Germline, FFPE, and liquid biopsy testing
- NGS troubleshooting and preliminary analysis
- SOP and QMS compliance
- NABL/ISO 15189 laboratory practices
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Illumina and MGI/BGI sequencing platforms.
- Knowledge of NGS metrics, including coverage, depth, variant allele frequency (VAF), limit of detection (LOD), and on-target percentage.
