Roles and Responsibilities
As an HCC Quality Analyst / Coding Auditor, you will play a critical role in ensuring coding accuracy, documentation compliance, and audit readiness. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing medical records to ensure correct ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS code assignment.
- Verifying documentation accuracy and coordinating with teams for missing or unclear information.
- Ensuring compliance with company coding standards, HIPAA guidelines, and payer regulations.
- Conducting internal audits to measure coding quality and accuracy.
- Sharing guideline updates, annual changes, and best practices with the coding team.
- Preparing audit reports, identifying trends, and recommending corrective actions.
- Supporting coding policy development and documentation improvement initiatives.
- Identifying potential risks in coding/documentation and developing mitigation strategies.
- Collaborating with coders and stakeholders to resolve audit findings and coding queries.
- Staying updated with the latest industry regulations and HCC coding changes.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in HCC Medical Coding.
- Strong command of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Solid understanding of HCC/Risk Adjustment models.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to identify coding errors and provide corrective guidance.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and compliance frameworks.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
