Responsibilities in the Job

As a Medical Coder at Visaya KPO, your primary responsibility will be to assign the correct codes for medical diagnoses, procedures, and treatments in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The job requires a high level of attention to detail and knowledge of coding systems, such as ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, and NCCI. Your work will ensure that healthcare organizations remain compliant with all regulations and guidelines, including CMS, HIPAA, and payer-specific rules. Other responsibilities include:

• Reviewing medical records and health information for accuracy.
• Coding diagnoses and procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements.
• Collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify documentation when needed.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position of Medical Coder, you must meet the following educational and certification qualifications:

• Educational Background:
  • A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or a related field.
• Certifications:
  • At least one of the following certifications is required:
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – AAPC (ideal for outpatient coding).
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) – AHIMA (ideal for inpatient coding).
    • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) – AAPC (for risk adjustment coding).
• Work Experience:
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in hospital inpatient, outpatient, or physician coding.
